Enji-Maajtaawaad - Where they Start
Immersing children in their early years of development to Anishinaabe culture, community and language is a central goal of Enji-Maajtaawaad Early Years Centre. When young children still developing and absorbing language, it is an ideal time to introduce Anishinaabemowin. With a number of practices and strategies, the Early Years Centre has begun normalizing Anishinaabemowin. With constant reinforcement and consistency, our staff and programming has increased the use of words and phrases dramatically over the past two years. With the momentum of Anishinaabemowin, we are incorporating more ways to becoming a Chippewa language immersion program.
